For decades, Europe has been the cradle for pharmaceutical innovation. Today, this is not the case. The United States is accelerating its development of new medicines while innovative research in Europe is declining. The European Commission has begun to recognize the importance of research and development in Europe. But is it too late? Are these initiatives enough?
